The urban development strategy mg+ Wachsende Stadt has a long-term focus. Step by step, projects will bring the strategy to life. Its aim is to make Mönchengladbach competitive compared with other cities and metropolitan regions in the long term.
The framework has been defined: strategic stimulus projects have been initiated along the three transversals defined in the Masterplan. For example, the Gladbachtal transversal offers potential for a diverse mix of different homes in Seestadt mg+ or in the planned Maria Hilf terraces. The recently completed Textile Academy on the Hochschulachse transversal provides new impetus for vocational training and professional development. The face of Rheydt – on the Grünachse Süd transversal – will change with the two planned major projects of the new town hall and the redevelopment of the main railway station area.
